Obama inauguration, live chat with Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds on Livestation
Posted on 13 January 2009 by David Brewer
Al Jazeera’s senior Washington correspondent, Rob Reynolds, will again be hosting a live chat with Livestation viewers, this time about the inauguration of Barack Obama.

The last time Rob engaged in real time chat with Al Jazeera viewers was in the run up to the election, which saw Obama beat McCain. A lot has happened since then, and Rob will be online in the Al Jazeera English chat room in the Livestation player from 21:00 GMT on Thursday 15 January to discuss those developments.
It’s you chance to ask one of the most informed journalists about your hopes for the Obama presidency, the legacy of George Bush, the role of the US in the world, and the current crisis in Gaza.
Unfortunately Rob will only be able to answer a handful of questions in the hour, so please think through your questions in advance, make them short and snappy (more likely to get picked up by the producer) and don’t forget to use the ‘set alias’ tab in the Livestation player chat panel to set your name and location – anonymous comments are less likely to be answered.
So, to get started, download the latest version of Livestation, click on Al Jazeera English and check out the chat room. Rob and his producers will be there waiting for any viewers who want to take part at 21:00GMT on Thursday 15 January.
The inauguration of Barack Obama and his move to the White House is set to be one of the biggest political spectacles the US has seen in years.
Al Jazeera English, along with all Livestation’s partner channels, has lined up its own special coverage of inauguration day on Tuesday 20 January, and Livestation viewers can flick between channels in the desktop player to sample the different coverage and perspectives being offered.
BBC World News begins convention coverage on Tuesday at 11:00 ET. Huw Edwards will anchor live from Capitol Hill with Matt Frei.
C-SPAN will cover all major 2009 inaugural events, beginning Saturday through Tuesday’s inauguration. Coverage on Tuesday starts at 06:00 ET with a special “Washington Journal” and continues each day until midnight ET.
France 24 will have special programmes on the three channels French, English and Arabic ; all carried on Livestation. The programmes will run from 16:00 to 23:00 (Paris time, GMT+1). In the Paris studios will be political scientists, experts, correspondents and representatives of the American political parties, all analysing the historical event. In Washington, France 24 International Affairs specialists will comment throughout the day live from the France 24 studios overlooking the Capitol. The special edition will be complemented by analysis from France 24 correspondents from across the world including Jerusalem, Beijing, London and Berlin.
Euronews will be watching events unfold and examining the Obama presidency from a European perspective, assessing how the relationship between the US and Europe is likely to play out. Euronews says its coverage will start at 17.00 CET and run until 19.00 CET. There will be cover of the parade from 21.00 CET on the No Comment Live programme. The channel will dip in and out of the story to cover events after 21.00 CET, but on a more sporadic basis.
