Matteo Berlucchi keynotes at Financial Times Deutschland IPTV Conference at IFA Convention, ICC Berlin
31 August 2007
At the IFA Convention on IPTV, hosted by the Financial Times, Matteo Berlucchi (CEO Skinkers) will assert his prediction as to why IPTV will inevitably push broadcasters to focus more on live content and why the Internet will become the ubiquitous channel for interactive broadcasting. He will showcase Livestation: the first open broadcast platform for the delivery of live interactive TV to computers.
Built on peer-to-peer technology licensed from Microsoft Research, Livestation will allow broadcasters to distribute live audio and video to a potential audience of hundreds of millions of broadband connected consumers at a much reduced cost. Currently in technical trial, Livestation is due to launch in 2008.
Matteo stated, “With the recent announcements from Apple TV and Hulu, we can clearly see that the trend will be towards on-demand content supplied to consumers through “VOD Supermarkets”. So where does that leave the Broadcasters? I believe they will focus on live and first view content and use the power of live interactive Internet broadcasting to develop a whole new live experience for their audience.”
